Is DVC Worth It?

Popular vacation ownership offered by Disney is known as Disney Vacation Club (DVC). A subsidiary of Walt Disney Company named Disney Vacation Development Inc created the Disney vacation club in 1991. Unlike the ancient timeshare, DVC allows its members to attend the vacation any time of the year, and in whatever size unit they want to, and for however long they want. According to the DVC, your Aulani in Hawaii ends January 31, 2062, Bay Lake Tower ends in 2060, membership at the Animal Kingdom Villas will end on January 31, 2057, Membership at Saratoga Springs Resort and Spa will end on January 31, 2054, and Vacation Club membership, for majority properties, ends on January 31, 2042, also unlike the timeshares.

Wondering, how does DVC work? DVC offers a set of ‘vacation points’ on your purchase. You may have the minimum number of points in the initial stage are 160, and the maximum points are 2000 if you buy directly from Disney. You can use these vacation points to book your reservations at the DVC. You can choose your reservations to be any time of year, in any resort, and also the size of the unit you need, depending upon the number of vacation points you have. The basic rules for using your points are the same; a one-bedroom costs less than a two-bedroom, the weekends cost more than the weekdays, and the off-season and the on-season units cost differently. The Disney Vacation Club members (DVC) are provided with the point charts and the menus of the cost.

There is a factor known as the ‘use year.’ The use year is the time of the year in which you are able to use your vacation points. If you buy your use year points in August, you will be able to them next year after July 31. The cost of the membership is as follows:

  • Initial Cost – The minimum initial cost of the DVC membership is $140 – $165 per point with a 100-point minimum. The price varies based on the resort.
  • Interest – All the plans of one, two, three, four---up to ten years have interests.

So, we hope you have now got the answer to your question – “dvc membership?”
